Patient Presentation and examination:
- Personal information: 39-year-old male
- Routine radiographic examination: Small radiolucencies were observed in the enamel of #4 (mesial) and #29 (distal). This was confirmed using an artificial intelligence software (Videa Health AI) (Figure 1)
Diagnosis:
- #4 : Initial caries extending to the inner half of enamel (E2) on the mesial surface
- #29 : Initial caries extending to the outer half of enamel (E1) on the distal surface
Treatment:
- The lesions were treated with one application of Curodont Repair Fluoride Plus and followed up with an application of fluoride varnish (5% sodium fluoride).
- Oral hygiene instructions were reinforced.
Follow-up: At the 4-month follow-up post-treatment, the following observations were made, confirmed also by the AI software: (Figure 2)
- Reduction of the sizes of the treated lesions to E0, indicative of complete remineralization.
Take-away: Non-invasive treatment of non-cavitated initial caries lesions can help prevent their progression into advanced lesions that need invasive, restorative treatment. Curodont Repair Fluoride Plus, applied in an easy, quick, painless, and drill-free protocol, along with improved oral hygiene and diet, helps remineralize these lesions.
